GP Ice Race

THIS EVENT HAS BEEN CANCELLED FOR 2023 DUE TO WARM WEATHER! The GP Ice Race was a historic race with daredevils on skis being towed by motorbikes and cars on a frozen Lake in Austria. In the early 1950s, racing was one of Austria's most popular pastimes, attracting thousands of fans every weekend. The races in Zell am See continued on into the 70s, when they had to be cancelled several times because the ice on the lake was too thin. After a fatal accident in 1974 the event was cancelled until it was reinvented again in 2019 under the name "GP Ice Race". Instead of the frozen lake, it is now held on the Zell am See airfield. Following two successful GP Ice Race events in 2019, 2020, and 2021 the Ice Race is planned returns for its 4th iteration in 2022.

Concourso d'Elegenza Villa d'Este

The Concorso d'Eleganza Villa d'Este is probably the most prestigious Classic Car Concours in Europe if not in the world. The quality of special and unique cars is on par with the Pebble Beach Concours in California which is widely considered the highlight of the year in the classic and vintage car world. But the Villa at lake Como doesn't have the vast golf lawn like Pebble Beach and is not as big as its American counterpart. The Concours limits the number of cars to only 50. Pebble features around 200 cars on display. This doesn't have to be a bad thing though because it gives you more time to closely inspect the cars and talk to the owners. Visitors can admire about 50 cars which are all built between the 1920s and the 1970s and are organized into different categories. Additionally, the event also features a super- and concept car category. EVC Experience Report

Fuori Concourso

The Fuori Concorso is an alternative / add-on to the Villa d’Este Concours. It is held on the same dates and the event location at the Villa del Grumello, Villa Sucota and Villa Elmo is just around the corner and within walking distance at the shores of Lago di Como. Fuori has only been launched in 2019 and unlike the Villa d’Este Concours, it hosts more modern sportscars such as special Porsches and other supercars. The event is considered fresh, modern and exciting that wants to bring together like-minded car enthusiasts. The event is organized by Larusmiani, a luxury Milan / Italian fashion brand founded in 1922 and led by the grandson of the founder Guglielmo Miani Sr. The day admission of €150 is still somewhat steep for a car event but on Sunday the 21st May, you can get free access from 18.00 to 20.00.

Goodwood Revival

Goodwood Revival is a three-day festival held each September at Goodwood Circuit since 1998. Only classic cars as well as motorcycles are allowed that would have competed during the circuit's original period from 1948–1966. In 1998 motor racing returned to Goodwood for the first time since the closure of the famous Motor Circuit in 1966. The event has since become one of the biggest historic motorsport events in the world and the only one to be staged entirely in period dress that recreates the 1950s and 1960s era of motorsport. The circuit is unchanged from its heyday, remaining in its 1952 configuration when the chicane was added. No modern vehicles are allowed within the circuit perimeter throughout the weekend, except for modern fire and rescue vehicles. There are also theatrical sets that bring the past back to life, as well as many historic aircraft. A spectacle that you must see at least once in your life!

The Gran Premio Nuvolari (Nuvolari Grand Prix) was a car race on open streets that was run in northern Italy from 1954 to 1957. In 1991 it was reborn as an international vintage car race using the same name. The route changes annually, starting and finishing in Mantua which is located between Milan and Bologna. It includes historic racetracks like the Autodromo Imola, as well as different Northern Italian Cities. Teams with vintage cars built between 1919 - 1976 participate in a total of more than 70 races covering more than 1,000 kilometres. The race is named after the famous F1 driver Tazio Nuvolari who died in 1953. He won over 72 major races and even Ferdinand Porsche called him the greatest race driver of all time. In 1957 the Italian government banned the Mille Miglia and Nuvolari road races due to safety concerns.
