The Countach was designed around the existing Lamborghini V12 engine in a mid-engine, rear-wheel-drive layout. Unlike the Miura's transversely-mounted engine, the Countach had it longitudinally mounted. Lamborghini was the first with this layout in a mass-produced sports car. The man in the photo: Edmond Ciclet, French Lamborghini Veteran and former chief mechanic of French Lamborghini importer Garage Thepanier.
