1885 Wilhelm Maybach riding the first motorcycle called “Reitwagen”
The Daimler Reitwagen "riding car" was a motor vehicle made by Gottlieb Daimler and Wilhelm Maybach in 1885 and is widely recognised as the first motorcycle.
Daimler is often called the father of the motorcycle for this invention. Before the Reitwagen there were already steam-powered two-wheelers which are also considered motorcycles. But the Reitwagen remains the first gasoline internal combustion motorcycle.The motorcycle has a single-cylinder engine with a capacity of 264 cm3, generates a power of 0.5 HP and can reach a top speed of 12 kph / 7.5 mph.
